Free MD2 Generator
Calculate MD2 (Message Digest 2) hashes. Input your text to generate a 128-bit legacy cryptographic hex digest.
The MD2 Hashing Algorithm
An online md2 generator calculates the Message Digest 2 (MD2) hash for any text string. Developed by Ronald Rivest in 1989, MD2 is a cryptographic hash function optimized for 8-bit computers. It outputs a fixed 128-bit (16-byte) hash value, represented as a 32-character hexadecimal string. Because of its design era, it is significantly slower than later digest functions.
Important Security Warning: Legacy Use Only
Please be aware that MD2 is cryptographically broken and is **not** secure for modern security applications. Collision attacks and pre-image vulnerabilities have been discovered, making it easy for attackers to forge inputs that generate the same hash. You should **never** use our md2 hash generator to hash passwords, sign secure tokens, or verify active data integrity. It is intended purely for legacy system integration and testing.
Hashing is One-Way and Not Encryption
Like all hash functions, MD2 is a one-way operation. You can generate md2 hash digests from text, but you cannot mathematically decrypt the hex string back to your input. For password storage, always skip fast legacy algorithms and choose secure slow algorithms like Bcrypt.
